Calling with Nye
So what’s different about Nye?
Call from anywhere - primary care, secondary care or from your own home
No waiting rooms - For both telephone and video calls, the patient’s phone rings, just like a regular call - less waiting around for you and the patient
Personal details are never revealed - to the patient, the caller ID will show a local number
Great, how do I get started using Nye?
If you’ve not already, you’ll need to sign up here, once you’ve done that then you can start making telephone and video calls.
Make a telephone call
Step 1. Pop your patient’s telephone number in and press “Call”
Step 2. Make sure you give Nye access to your microphone
Step 3. Your patient’s phone will ring like a normal call. They don’t need an app
Step 4. Your patient will see an incoming landline number
Step 5. Just press “End call” when you’re finished
Make a video call
Step 1. Pop your patient’s number in
Step 2. If your patient already has the Nye app, you'll be able to video call straight away. Just click 'Video'.
If your patient doesn't have the Nye app, you’ll be prompted to invite them to Nye - tap invite to send them an SMS with instructions
Your patient will need to download the app and make an account. This takes 5 to 10 minutes.
Once their account is ready, next time you pop in their number in, you'll be able to tap “Video call”
Step 3. Once you tap video, you’ll go through a few hardware checks before your call connects
Step 4. Make sure you grant permissions to access the microphone and camera.
Tips for calling with Nye

If you're using your iPhone or iPad to make calls with Nye, make sure you use Safari internet browser, log in at weare.nye.health
If you're using your desktop computer, make sure you're using a device that is not also dialling a VPN (hint - lots of clinicians use their computer to connect to the patient record system on the VPN, and then another computer, tablet or smartphone to make calls with Nye)
